A man who attacked two gardai during a search in which cocaine was recovered has been jailed for five years by Judge Dominic Lynch at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court.

Larry McGartland (32), Weavers' Square, Dublin, and an accomplice assaulted the gardai with a 15ft plank and a bamboo stick during the raid on McGartland's home when the Garda National Drugs Unit found £2,400 worth of cocaine.

He was convicted of having the drug with intent to supply and of assaulting Garda Paul Duffy and Garda John Doherty on January 6th, 1999. Leave to appeal was refused.
