According to gardaí, the incident happened at 9.10pm when a man in his 30s was seriously injured in a house at Kilmore Road.

A least two shots were fired through a front downstairs window hitting the man in the body.

The victim was taken to Cork University Hospital where his condition is described as stable.

According to reports, the victim was visiting his girlfriend at the time, and a woman and two children, aged six and three, were in the room at the time but were not injured.

Witnesses saw a man wearing dark clothing leaving the scene in a large green car, possibly a Mercedes, gardaí added.
