Man injured in Belfast attack

A man suffered a serious arm injury when he was attacked by a gang armed with a sword-type weapon in Belfast this evening.

A man suffered a serious arm injury when he was attacked by a gang armed with a sword-type weapon in Belfast this evening.

Seven men were arrested following the incident in Turf Lodge in the west of the city.

Police said the injured man was struck with either a sword or machete. He has been taken to hospital for treatment.

The altercation happened at Monagh Drive around 6pm and seven men were arrested at nearby Norglen Parade a short time later.

Meanwhile, in the south of the city three teenagers were stabbed during an aggravated burglary at Agincourt Avenue.

Two men armed with a knife and baton entered the house before attacking the three young men shortly before 7pm.

Their injuries are not thought to be life threatening. Two women in the house, also in their late teens, escaped injury.

The thieves escaped with a small sum of money in the direction of the Ormeau Road.
