Man held over west Dublin bank burglary

Gardaí have arrested a man on suspicion of stealing around €40,000 in a burglary at a bank in west Dublin early this morning.

The man was stopped by gardaí at around 5am as he was making off on foot from the Bank of Ireland in Blanchardstown.

It is understood the man broke his way into the bank using an iron bar to force open the back door.

Gardaí were alerted when he triggered the alarm.

The man is being held at Finglas Garda Station for questioning.
