Gardaí have arrested a man in his early 30s in connection with the killing of a father of two in Dublin last November.

Gardaí have arrested a man in his early 30s in connection with the killing of a father of two in Dublin last November.

The man was arrested in the Clondalkin area this morning in connection with the death of John Cunningham jnr (26), from Kiltilawn Way, Tallaght. The man is currently being detained at Clondalkin Garda Station under the Offences Against the State Act.

Four people held by gardaí since Monday released without charge last night. Three other men were released on Monday night.

Gardaí arrested five men and two women, aged between 19 and 31, at homes in Clondalkin in west Dublin and in Celbridge, Co Kildare, on Monday morning. Three of the men were released on Monday night.

Two men and two women released last night had been held under Section 30 Offences Against the State Act and a file is now being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.

Mr Cunningham was attacked at the junction of New Nangor Road and Fonthill Road shortly after 8pm on November 4th last year.

Mr Cunningham had two children, John (4) and Joe (1), while his widow, Mary Cunningham, is understood to be pregnant with their third child.
