A second man has been arrested in connection with the murder of a Derry blues musician, police said today.

James Gilchrist, 62, was last seen alive riding his bike in the city's John Street in the early hours of September 28th. His body was recovered from the Foyle river later that day.

It was initially thought Mr Gilchrist's death was suspicious but detectives later confirmed he had been killed. Police confirmed the man was arrested yesterday and is currently in custody.

A 27-year-old man appeared in court earlier this month charged with the musician's murder.
