A man has been held for questioning by gardaí after he allegedly tried to pass through Dublin airport security carrying two large knives.

The man, believed to be of Algerian origin, was stopped by security staff last night after they found the knives concealed on his person.

He was also reportedly carrying a container with liquids, which is against airport security regulations.

He was taken to Santry Garda station for questioning.

A spokeswoman for the Dublin Airport Authority said she could not comment on the issue for security reasons.
