An Armagh man accused of possessing a sawn-off shotgun with intent to endanger life has been freed on bail after the High Court was told the situation in Northern Ireland "had calmed down".

Mr Justice Girvan heard there was no fingerprint evidence to link Mr Jason Peter Balandowitz (20) with the weapon, found during a police search of a cupboard above a water tank in his Gough Avenue home, along with a balaclava, woollen gloves and combat clothing. Mr Balandowitz has denied all knowledge of the shotgun and being a UVF member.
