A 21-year-old man has been found dead inside the tiger den at the Copenhagen Zoo with throat wounds, police said today.
His body was found by a zoo keeper surrounded by three tigers.
It was unclear how or why the man, a foreigner but who holds a Danish residence permit, entered the pit, but police said investigators could not rule out suicide.
His name and nationality were not immediately released.
Zoo manager Steffen Straede says it is the first time in the zoo’s 152-year history that such a thing has happened.
