Man for court over Croom murder

A man is expected to appear at a special sitting of Listowel district court tonight in connection with the Garda investigation into the murder of Liam O'Donovan in Croom, Co Limerick, earlier this month.

Mr O'Donovan (59), was stabbed to death outside his home at St Senan's Terrace some time on Saturday morning, the 4th of November.

It is believed he died as a result of a stab wound to his chest.

He was heavily involved in the local sporting community, and was known for his work with the elderly.

The man, who is in his 20s, was arrested around 7.30am this morning and is from the Croom area. He was initially detained under Section 4, Criminal Justice Act, at Bruff Garda Station.
