A man is due to appear before Dublin District Court this morning over the false imprisonment of a family in Raheny in 2005.

The man was arrested in Amsterdam on foot of a European Arrest warrant and brought to Dublin Airport from where he was taken to Raheny Garda station and charged with false imprisonment.

The case involved a Securicor worker, Paul Richardson, whose wife and two sons were held overnight in a van in woods in Co Wicklow overnight between March 13th and 14th, 2005

Mr Richardson was forced to go to work at Securicors Rialto depot the next day and take a cash-in-transit van to the Angler’s Rest pub at Strawberry Beds, Co Dublin, where a gang stole just over €2 million.
