A DUBLIN widower has been found not guilty by a jury in the Central Criminal Court of raping and buggering his then 14 year old daughter in 1992.

Mr Justice Shanley discharged the 38 year old defendant from the case after the five day trial. The court was told he was on remand in custody on another unrelated matter.

The jury, which took almost seven hours to reach its verdicts, acquitted the defendant of five charges arising out of alleged incidents in his home on November 8th-9th, 1992. He had denied raping his daughter, buggering her, committing incest, and sexually assaulting her twice on those dates.
