AN ARKLOW man charged with murder took up High Court bail in Wicklow District Court yesterday.

Anthony Farrell (19), Marian Villas, Arklow, was charged with murdering John Deasy, and robbery at Brauders Shop, Coolgreaney Road, Arklow on November 25th, 2009.

Also before the court was John Byrne (19) of Croghan Heights, Arklow, who was charged with robbery at the shop on the same date.

He said the bail conditions for the murder were similar to those previously laid down by the High Court. Mr Honan said Mr Farrell didn’t have the opportunity to take up the bail on Monday, but wished to take it up yesterday. Mr Farrell’s mother, who had acted as an independent surety in the robbery charge, said she was willing to act as a surety in respect of the murder charge and was satisfied to use the same cash lodgement.

Supt Pat Ward said more time was needed to prepare the book of evidence, and Judge Murrough Connellan extended time for service of the book on both men and remanded them both on bail until April 13th.
