A man in his thirties has been charged in connection with the fatal stabbing of a 43-year-old man in a Temple Bar pub last night.

Mr Aidan Henigan (34) was arrested following the incident, which occurred at the Back Lounge bar on Exchange St at around 11.20 p.m. yesterday. He was charged in Dublin District Court this afternoon and remanded in custody for one week by Judge Miriam Malone.

The victim, who was identified as Frank McCann, was allegedly stabbed three times in the neck and body.

He was taken to St James's Hospital but pronounced dead a short time later.

Detectives from Pearse Street Garda Station are examining the scene and a post mortem will be carried out later today.
