A 36-year-old man was remanded in custody today on charges linked to the murder of teenager Gavin Brett in Northern Ireland last weekend.

Mr Kenneth Samuel Wallace was charged with withholding information about the killing of Gavin (18) who was gunned down in a drive-by shooting outside a Catholic sports club last Sunday.

A RUC officer told Belfast Magistrates Court that when charged, the defendant made no reply.

Mr Wallace, a plasterer from Pinewood Avenue, Carrickfergus, Co Antrim, was remanded in custody to appear again before Newtownabbey Magistrate's Court on August 16.
