A 27-year-old man has been arrested after he was discovered with a number of firearms on the M7 motorway in Co Laois.
The man was arrested when gardaí stopped and searched his car outside Portlaoise shortly after 3pm yesterday.
During the course of the planned search officers from the Garda National Bureau of Criminal Investigation discovered two rifles and four shotguns.
The man was taken to Portlaoise Garda station where he is being detained under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act.
