Gardaí have arrested a man in connection with the fatal stabbing of a 21-year-old in Dublin on New Year's Day.
The man, who is in is mid-twenties, was detained in Dublin this afternoon and is being questioned in Mountjoy Garda Station.
The man can be held for up to 12 hours under section four of the Criminal Justice Act.
It is understood that he was arrested at Fitzgibbon St in the north inner city and had been in contact with detectives in the murder investigation for the past two days.
Martin McLoughlin from Cherrywood Park in Clondalkin died following an incident at Jury's Hotel, close to Croke Park at 4am on January 1st.
He was discovered with a chest wound and rushed to the intensive care unit of Dublin's Mater Hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery, before dying at around 7am.
They had returned from celebrating New Year's Eve in the city centre when a row broke out at around 4am.

Chief Supt Mick Feehan from Store Street Garda Station, who is heading the investigation, has said that detectives were following a definite line of enquiry.
