A man arrested at his west Belfast home by detectives investigating the murder of solicitor Pat Finucane was released tonight.

The man (38) was detained by officers from the investigative team headed by Sir John Stevens, London's Metropolitan Police Commissioner.

Mr Finucane was shot dead in front of his wife and family at their home in north Belfast in February 1989.

A spokesman for the inquiry team said the man had been questioned about conspiracy to murder. But New Scotland Yard tonight said the man had been released as inquiries continued.
