A man was arrested in Belfast last night after police seized a gun and drugs in Northern Ireland.

A man was arrested in Belfast last night after police seized a gun and drugs in Northern Ireland.

He was arrested by officers who spotted suspicious activity close to a post office on Suffolk Road, west Belfast. The weapon was recovered at the scene.

During searches in Downpatrick and Newcastle, Co Down, more seizures were made.

Police recovered cash, 98 suspected ecstasy tablets and a quantity of suspected cannabis from the Newcastle area.

In a separate operation, police recovered a firearm and ammunition during searches in the Loyalist Westland Drive area of north Belfast.
