An 18-year-old Dublin man admitted fondling a 10-year-old girl he was supposed to be babysitting. Edward Barry, of Rivermede Drive, pleaded guilty in Swords District Court to sexually assaulting the girl in his home last March 17th.
Garda Maria O'Sullivan told the court that Barry was babysitting the 10-year-old girl and her younger sister. They all got into the same bed together, and he started stroking her leg and vaginal area.
The girl's mother said the incident had not affected her school work but she came in from school crying because of rumours that she was a liar. "There's no question of that. He pleaded guilty and he made a statement," said Judge Sean Delap, remanding Barry to December 10th for probation and psychiatric reports.
