A Co Monaghan man accused of murdering two soldiers in a Border sniping incident was named in a Belfast court yesterday as having helped make bombs used in London in 1992 and 1996.
Mr Bernard Michael McGinn (41), of Henry Street, Castleblayney, was still in the cells at the city's Crown Court when Mr John Creaney QC, prosecuting, claimed he was involved with the Baltic Exchange bombing of April 1992, Canary Wharf in February 1996, and the Semtex found under Hammersmith Bridge on April 24th, 1996.
Mr McGinn was being examined by a doctor for what a defence lawyer said was "a matter relevant to the case". Mr Creaney told the Lord Chief Justice, Sir Robert Carswell, that six of the 31 charges he faces involve the manufacture of home-made bombs and the possession of explosives relating to the London attacks.
