A man dressed as a priest tried to abduct four young girls by asking them to get into his car and help look for his dog, the Dublin Circuit Criminal Court has heard.

The court also heard that a number of girls were approached by a man who invited them into his car and he tried to entice them with £3 each.

The 41-year-old man, who cannot be named, is pleading not guilty to four charges of attempting to take four children without reasonable excuse while they were in the control of another, on February 2nd, 1999, at a housing complex in Dublin's north inner city.

The trial continues before Judge John O'Hagan.
