Man (75) dies after Belfast robbery

A pensioner has died after he was injured during an attempted robbery in west Belfast, police said today.

A pensioner has died after he was injured during an attempted robbery in west Belfast, police said today.

Detectives launched a murder inquiry after Samuel Crawford (75) from Cavendish Street, died following the incident yesterday afternoon.

Police want to speak to two women passers-by, possibly nurses, who helped the victim after the incident. Anyone with information has been asked to contact police.

A man aged 19 has been charged with attempted robbery, possession of a prohibited article and assault. He will appear at Belfast Magistrates’ Court this morning.
