Man (40s) shot in east Belfast attack

A man in his late forties was shot and injured in a gun attack in east Belfast last night.

A man in his late forties was shot and injured in a gun attack in east Belfast last night.

Police said he was walking along London Road when he was approached by a lone gunman at the junction of London Street and shot a number of times in the legs.

The injured man was taken to hospital for treatment, and police investigating the attack appealed for anyone in the area with information to come forward.

The police service said that at this stage they were not treating the shooting as a paramilitary style attack.

The injured man's condition is not believed to be life threatening.
