Police in Derry have opened a murder inquiry after a 28-year-old man was shot dead in bed in the early hours of this morning.
A PSNI spokeswoman said two men entered a house in Fountainhill in the Waterside area of the city shortly after 3.30am and fired a number of shots at the victim.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
A 24-year-old woman who was present at the time was not injured, police said.
The PSNI has appealed for information and is interested in hearing from anyone who may have seen a green Vauxhall Cavalier car in the nearby Spencer Road area after the shooting.
