Gardaí are appealing for witnesses after a man was killed in a crash in Co Cavan last night.

Seamus O'Brien (22) of Augheraskilla, Ballyconnell died in the single-car crash on the R205 at Scotchtown Ballyconnell.

He was the only occupant of the car, which went out of control at about 9pm, according to a Garda spokesman.

Gardaí are seeking anyone who may have seen the black Honda Civic in the Scotchtown area prior to the collision.

Meanwhile, gardaí in Letterkenny have renewed their appeal for witnesses to Monday's fatal collision at Tullygally, Newmills, Letterkenny, in which 16-year-old Kerry Ann Meehan, from Manorview, Letterkenny and her three-month-old child Neisha were killed.

They are appealing for anyone who may have seen the silver two door Toyota Corolla hatchback as it travelled from Derry to Letterkenny and on to Churchill on the before arriving in Tullygally between 8.45pm and 8.50pm.
