Gardaí in Cavan are investigating a fatal road traffic collision this morning in which an 18-year-old man died.
The single vehicle collision occured between the hours of 4am and 7am at Lavey in Stradone, Co Cavan.
The driver of the van, an 18 year old man, was taken to Cavan General Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. It is believed he was the only occupant of the vehicle.
A short section of the N3 at Lavey is closed for a technical examination and diversions are in place locally.
Gardaí are appealing for anybody who may have seen a red Peugeot 306 van between the hours of 4am – 7am this morning, to contact Gardaí at Cavan on 049-4368800, the Garda Confidential Line or any Garda Station.
