Niamey - First results of a referendum on a new constitution in Niger showed a majority in favour but turnout was low, the independent electoral commission said yesterday. More than four million people were registered to vote in the referendum held on Sunday, which would bring in power-sharing between an elected president and prime minister following elections due before the end of the year.
