Private Jessica Lynch today said she thought the US army was "wrong" to filmher rescue from an Iraqi hospital.

In an interview with ABC television, broadcast in the US last night, the20-year-old also spoke about the nine days she spent in hospital in Nasariyahafter her unit was ambushed and she was injured.

Contrary to reports immediately after her rescue, the supply clerk did notfight until she ran out of bullets in the gun battle on March 23rd, killingseveral Iraqis.

In fact, her weapon jammed and she did not fire a shot.

"I'm not about to take credit for something I didn't do," she said."I did not shoot, not a round, nothing. When we were told to lock and load,that's when my weapon jammed... I did not shoot a single round... I went downpraying to my knees. And that's the last I remember."

Ms Lynch said she was never mistreated at the hospital, but she still fearedfor her life.

"I kept repeating, 'Please don't hurt me, please don't hurt me'."

Ms Lynch was asked about the military's portrayal of her rescue, whichwas filmed in dramatic green nightvision and released to the media.

Asked whether it bothers her, she replied: "Yeah, it does. It does that theyused me as a way to symbolise all this stuff. I mean, yeah, it's wrong. I don'tknow what they had or why they filmed it."
