Several hundred loyalists tonight staged a surprise march to British Army lines at the Drumcree Church at Portadown.

Several hundred loyalists tonight staged a surprise march to British Army lines at the Drumcree Church at Portadown.

The march was in protest at the Parades Commission's decision to maintain its ban on Sunday's Orange Order parade passing along the nationalist Garvaghy Road.

Accompanied by a band, the crowd carried UFF banners and other with slogans of support from the Lower Shankill to Portadown Orangemen. The crowd is understood to now have dispersed.
