A raider who held up the National Irish Bank in Balbriggan, Co Dublin yesterday afternoon is thought to have escaped with about £10,000.

The man entered the bank on Drogheda Street shortly before 2 p.m., wearing a helmet and carrying what appeared to be handgun.

He demanded cash, which he stuffed into a bag before running off. Gardai believe be was picked up by an accomplice who drove off in the direction of Dublin.
