Liverpool manager Gerard Houllier is in talks with French goalkeeper Patrice Luzi about a move from Monaco to Anfield.
The 21-year-old has not featured for the French side and spent last season on loan with Ajaccio - helping them gain promotion.
Houllier, who has been busy in the transfer market during the close season, told a news conference today: "He's free, he's young and there is room for him to improve."
Poland international Jerzy Dudek was Liverpool's first choice keeper last season.
