The three main national radio stations have recorded a slight decrease in listenership according to the latest figures from the Broadcasting Commission of Ireland (BCI).

RTÉ Radio recorded a 26 per cent (-2 per cent) national listenership figure between October 2003 and March 2004, 2FM 24 per cent (-2 per cent), and Today FM 13 per cent (-2 per cent). Lyric FM's listenership remained steady at 3 per cent.

The listenership figure for any regional or local station was 56 per cent, an increase of one percentage point.

In Dublin 98FM and FM104 both saw decreases of 2 per cent to reach 20 per cent of Dublin listeners. Lite FM/Q102 recorded an increase in listenership to 12 per cent (+2 per cent), while Newstalk 106 and Spin 1038 saw increases of 3 per cent and 1 per cent respectively to 5 per cent each, when compared with figures for the same period last year. Country 106.8FM's listenership also saw an increase to 3 per cent (+ per cent).

Cork 96FM/County Sound achieved a listened yesterday figure of 49 per cent (-2 per cent) while Red FM recorded a reach of 17 per cent (-1 per cent) in the Cork city and county franchise area.

Limerick's Live 95FM, achieved a listenership figure of 56 per cent for the period.

No comparable figures are available for the same period last year.

WLR FM's listened yesterday figure was 54 per cent (+13 per cent), Galway Bay FM's was 52 per cent (-9 per cent), while Midlands Radio 3's figure remained the same at 35 per cent.
