Truckers caused traffic chaos in Limerick city yesterday in a protest at the condition of the N69 Limerick to Foynes road, which services the port of Foynes on the Shannon Estuary.

A spokesman for the truckers said the road was full of potholes and dangerous. It was dug up for a waterworks scheme by Limerick County Council two years ago but was never properly backfilled, he claimed.
