Limerick Corporation and Limerick County Council yesterday gritted an eight-mile oil spill from outside the Dock Road to the Ennis Road.
The city engineering department said the matter was under control by noon but motorists were asked to take extreme care. Investigations were taking place to find the source of the spill, which occurred early in the morning.
