Lifeboat crew members rescued

Three crew members of the Wexford lifeboat have been rescued after their boat capsized in Wexford harbour this morning.

The RNLI inshore boat is understood to have been on a training exercise when the incident occured.

Two crew members managed to stay in contact with the upturned lifeboat and were winched to safety by the Irish Coastguard helicopter while a third crew member was recovered a mile and a half northeast from the scene by Rosslare RNLI lifeboat.

A search involving a rescue helicopter was launched shortly after midday when the alarm was raised.

The Wexford D class inshore lifeboat was launched at 10.15am this morning with three volunteer lifeboat crew onboard.
