Libyan leader Muammar Gadafy is to visit South Africa ahead of the June 16th inauguration of Mr Thabo Mbeki as president, outgoing President Nelson Mandela announced yesterday. Speaking at his official Gena dendal residence with the Libyan leader's wife, Safia Farkash Alba Rassi, and daughters Aisha and Hanna, he said: "As head of state he will be well received."
Mr Mandela again thanked the Libyan leader for his contribution to the liberation struggle.
"President Gadafy has done a lot for us and at a time when very few people, especially in the West, (identified) with our (anti-apartheid) struggle. He gave us all the resources he could afford to give us."
