The Hague - A Libyan intelligence agent, Abdel Basset Ali al-Megrahi, is due to appear before a Scottish appeals court in the Netherlands on Monday to try to overturn a life sentence for the 1988 Lockerbie bombing.

The preliminary hearing at Camp Zeist will deal solely with administrative matters before the start of the appeal in January or February.

Megrahi (49) was convicted in January for the bombing of Pan Am Flight 103 over Lockerbie.
