The Leicester board have decided against hosting April's Heineken Cup quarter-final versus Munster at Leicester City's Walkers Stadium, instead keeping the tie at their 17,000 capacity Welford Road home.

There had been suggestions, given the huge demand for tickets for the repeat of last year's final, the defending champions would move the match to the 32,000 all-seater soccer arena but it was announced today the fixture is to stay put.

Munster's travelling red hordes, still smarting about Neil Back's sleight of hand in last's seasons showpiece, would have preferred the quarter-final to be switched as they were in line to benefit from up to 7,000 extra seats.

Instead, they must make do with an initial allocation of 1,000 tickets at Welford Road although Leicester have given an undertaking to "review the situation as soon as the requirements of our members and European Rugby Cup Ltd (ERC) become clear".

Leciester chairman, Peter Tom, issued a statement, saying: "We can confirm that the Heineken Cup quarter-final between Leicester Tigers and Munster will take place at Welford Road on Sunday April 13th at 4 p.m.

"Our season-ticket holders and members have until February 21st to apply for their tickets, and they will be guaranteed priority until this deadline.

"Munster will receive an initial allocation of 1,000 tickets, and we will review the situation as soon as the requirements of our members and European Rugby Cup Ltd become clear. Any remaining tickets will go on general sale at the beginning of March."
