Midfielder Gareth Evans has become the fourth Leeds United player to face charges of assault and affray this year and will appear in court on Wednesday.
Evans has been charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm and affray on a 30-year-old man, a British police spokeswoman said today.
The 20-year-old reserve team player will appear before Leeds magistrates on Wednesday following the alleged offences, which took place outside a pub in Evans's home town of Rothwell three days ago.
A second man, aged 24, has also been arrested in connection with the incident and will appear in court charged with the same offences.
"A 20-year-old man and a 24-year-old man have both been arrested and charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm and affray," said a West Yorkshire police spokeswoman.
"Both men are due to appear before Leeds magistrates on Wednesday."
The incident pours more trouble Leeds, who currently have three of their players involved in a high-profile trial at Hull Crown Court.
Defender Jonathan Woodgate, midfielder Lee Bowyer and reserve team striker Tony Hackworth all deny causing grievous bodily harm with intent and affray on a young man outside a Leeds nightclub in January 2000.
Evans has made just one appearance for the Leeds first team as a substitute in the Champions League qualifier against 1860 Munich in the Olympic Stadium last August.
