A dental technician charged with stealing £5,000 worth of property belonging to the Western Health Board has had his case returned for hearing a second time to October after a jury failed to reach a verdict on three larceny charges.

Mr Ciaran McCarthy (51), Aghamore Far, Co Sligo, who was living in Castlebar at the time of the alleged offences in 1998, was found not guilty by the jury of a charge of handling stolen property. However, after a three-day trial at Castlebar Circuit Court sitting in Westport, the jury disagreed on the three counts of larceny.
