Outgoing MEP Mr Prionsias De Rossa and barrister and law lecturer, Ms Ivana Bacik, have been selected to contest the Dublin constituency in the European election for Labour next summer.

A vote was taken at a convention of the party in the Royal Dublin Society, Ms Bacik received 49.6 per cent of the vote, Mr De Rossa received 33.8 per cent, while the third candidate, Mr Nap Keeling got 16.5 per cent.
