Businesses needed to realise they not only had a legal obligation to draw up a "workplace safety statement", but the health and safety of their workers must be an integral part of their operation, according to the Minister for Labour Affairs Mr Tom Kitt.
Speaking yesterday after the publication by the Health and Safety Authority of Guidelines on Workplace Health and Safety Management and Guide- lines on Preparing Safety Statements, Mr Kitt said dangers in the workplace to both employer and employee could be minimised by having up-to-date safety statements.
