Following their repsective All-Ireland victories Kilkenny hurlers and Kerry footballers dominated the Vodafone GAA All Star Players of the Month awards for August and September when they were announced in Dublin today.

Kilkenny hurlers Henry Shefflin and Aidan Fogarty joined Kerry footballers Kieran Donaghy and Seamus Moynihan to collect the awards from the President of the GAA, Nickey Brennan and Vodafone's Head of Marketing Helen Marks.

It is the second time this season that Shefflin has been honoured as Player of the Month, having picked up the award in April following Kilkenny's League triumph.

The August award recognised his display in the All-Ireland semi-final when he scored 1-13, with 1-6 coming from play.

Shefflin's young teammate, 24 year old Aidan Fogarty from the Emeralds club in Urlingford, started his first All-Ireland senior final in September and produced what the judges described as his best ever performance for Kilkenny, scoring 1-3.

Kieran Donaghy had a massive impact on the Championship after switching to full forward for Kerr. He was recognised for his displays in the All-Ireland quarter-final against Armagh and in the semi-final against Cork to help steer Kerry to another All-Ireland final.

In that final Seamus Moynihan, the judges said he "rolled back the years with a performance that included all the attributes that have made him one of the greatest players of his generation".

At the presentation President of the GAA Nickey Brennan paid tribute to Moynihan who recently announced his retirement from inter-county football.

Congratulating the four players Brennan said; "We enjoyed two great championships this year and the four players here today represent everything that is good about our games. You represent that great combination of youth and experience and your people have every right to be immensely proud of you."
