THE office of the French Prime Minister, Mr Alain Juppe, yesterday denied "in the most categorical way a rumour in foreign exchanges that he had resigned.
The franc, which had started the day firm around 3.3807 per mark, fell as low as 3.3873 as the rumours made their way through the markets, but after the public denial, rose to trade at 3.3859.
