LONDON - Britain's most senior legal official reprimanded a judge yesterday for using the phrase "people... who work like niggers" during a court case. "Remarks of this kind do wholly disproportionate damage to the perception of justice and the reputation of the judiciary," said the Lord Chancellor, Lord Mackay, in a statement, directed at Judge William Crawford.
It is not the first time Judge Crawford has had a run in with the Lord Chancellor. He was publicly rebuked for hugging and kissing a blonde court usher in 1992 in what was described as an "over familiar greeting".
