Journalist Gene McKenna has been appointed press director of Fianna Fáil.
The party said Mr McKenna will take up the role in November.
He is political editor of the Irish Independentand has worked with the Drogheda Independentand the Irish Press.
Outgoing Fianna Fáil press director Olivia Buckley last month joined public relations firm Murray Consultants as an account director.
