Jordan driver Ralph Firman has passed a preliminary fitness test for Sunday's Italian Grand Prix after crashing heavily in Hungary three weeks ago.

Firman, who missed testing in Monza last week, had a check-up in London yesterday with Peter Hamlyn, assistant of FIA medical delegate Sid Watkins.

"He's fine and he can't wait to get back in the car," a team spokesperson said.

Firman must undergo another test at Monza on Thursday.

Williams driver Ralf Schumacher, who crashed heavily at the Milan circuit in testing last week, will also undergo an examination on Thursday.
