A Dublin man who took a shotgun from the Castlecourt Hotel, Westport, Co Mayo, and sawed off its barrels in public has been jailed for six years by Judge Cyril Kelly at Dublin Circuit Court.
Damien Cummins (21), of Summerhill Parade, Dublin, pleaded guilty to unlawful possession of the shotgun, causing criminal damage to it and having it for an unlawful purpose on March 4th, 1995.
Cummins is serving a 22 month sentence imposed by Tuam District Court in March this year for stealing a car.
