A Dublin drug addict who waded into the sea and challenged armed gardaí to shoot him after he drove a stolen car off a Howth pier and stole cash from a number of shops has been sentenced to seven years.

John Redmond, Ballybough House, Ballybough, pleaded guilty to three dangerous driving counts, to damaging a Garda car, failing to stop, speeding on to a footpath, driving without insurance and threatening to kill Cian Daly on March 28th, 2009.
